A Brief Introduction toChina National Football Academy and China National Basketball Academy

China National Football Academy and China National Basketball Academy (hereinafter CNFA & CNBA) are co-founded by General Administration of Sport of China and Shandong Provincial People’s Government, and jointly undertaken by Chinese Football Association (CFA), Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), Shandong Administration of Sports and Shandong Sport University. Founded as the secondary institutes of Shandong Sport University, CNFA & CNBA are the only two academies of football and basketball entitled with “National” in China. Featured by football and basketball, CNFA & CNBA are the application-oriented national academies of special sports, shouldering the responsibilities ofacademic degree education, professional training, academic research, as well as cultural inheritance and transmission.

Since its inception on January 12, 2017, CNFA & CNBA have beenimplementing the philosophy of “matching needs, collaborative innovation and converging features”,launching undergraduate and postgraduate education and trying to explore the “3+1+1” pattern of international cooperative education andfacilitating collaborative innovation by firms, universities and research institutes with the aim to cultivate football and basketball related comprehensive professionals, including high-level coaches, teachers, referees, fitness trainers, kinesiotherapists, event and club managers and more.CNFA & CNBA are home toover800 full-time undergraduate students.

CNFA & CNBA are composed of four functional departments, including Department of General Affairs, Department of Education and Training, Department of International Exchange & Cooperation and Academic Research as well as Department of Continuing Education, among which Football Teaching and Research Section, Basketball Teaching and Research Section, Athletic Training Teaching and Research Section and Big DataCenter for Movement Monitoring and more are established. It has 10 professors, 15 associate professors, 2 doctoral advisors, 6 doctors, 6 doctorate candidates, 15 master supervisors, 1 FIFA international women referee (a FIFA referee fitness instructor), 1 FIBA international women referee, 2 AFC A license holders, 1 UEFA A license holder, 1 AFC B license holder, 2 football national-level referees, 1 basketball national-level referee and one Honored Referee awarded by CBA. Many faculty members have refereed inOlympics and National Games.

CNFA & CNBA hire JIANG Zhixueas the “Consultant of CNFA & CNBA”; WEI Di, ZHANG Jilong, RONG Zhixing as the “Consultant of CNFA”; ZHU Guanghu as the “Distinguished Expert of CNFA”; XIN Lancheng, YANG Hua, YAO Songping, YE Guoxiong as the “Consultant of CNBA”; CHI Jian as the “Executive Deputy Principal”; Bora Milutinović as the “Chief Technical Consultant of CNFA”; GONG Luming as the “Chief Technical Consultant of CNBA”; SUN Fengwu as the “Technical Consultant of CNBA”; LIU Yulin, WANG Shouheng as the “ Distinguished Expert of CNBA” and YIN Tieshen as the “Technical Consultant of CNFA”.

CNFA & CNBA have successively visited and exchanged with universities, clubs and research institutes of the Unite States, Britain, France, Portugal and more. MeanwhileCoach Pedagogyas a coursewas introduced from Spain; “ Big Data Center for Movement Monitoring” was built to collect dada and provide training instruction for some sport teams such as China Weightlifting Team, China Women’s Water Polo Team, China Women’s Rugby Team, China Surfing Team and Track & Field Team of Shandong Province and more.

Sport College Basketball Association (SCBA) was launched and undertaken by CNFA & CNBA, ranked the 6^thposition among “ National Sporting Event Supreme IP Potential” in 2018 and the top of “ Best New Talent Sporting Event” in 2019. Our University Men’s Basketball Team and Women’s Basketball Team have won the championship twice, two-time runner-up and the third position twice and the third place of “3 X 3” Basketball League of National Competition Association of Athletics & Training (NCAAT). CNFA & CNBA hosted andorganized successively “ CNFA & CNBA CUP” National School Football League, “KELME·Luneng Taishan Cup 2017 ” AmateurFootball League, “Sport College Football Association 2018 (5^thConference of SCFA) etc. University Football Team won the 3^rdplace in SCFA 2018, the runner-up of the 16^thUniversity Games in Shandong Province, the champion of the 1^stUniversity Football Competition of Rizhao. Moreover, University Women’s Football Team won the champion of “Lu Jiang Cup” Football League of Supreme Group in Shandong Preliminary Competition and the 3^rdposition of “ Adidas Cup” National Youth Campus Football League of Shandong Conference.

The discipline ofAthletic Training Educationwhich belongs to CNFA & CNBA was awarded Shandong Provincial First-Class Discipline Developing Program in 2019. Moreover,BasketballandAthletic Training Educationwere approved Provincial-level First-Class Courses. CNFA & CNBA jointly launched a “Talented Youth Initiative” with Shandong Province Football Association, Shandong TaishanFootballClub and Chixing Sports (Shandong) to vigorously develop “School Football” and “School Basketball” programs. It builds over 20 practice and training bases for students withQubo Football Club of Qingdao and Fanbin Basketball Club of Yantai etc. Being widely praised, both academies have hosted different training activities, which organized by FIBA, Chinese Basketball Management Center of General Administration of Sport of China, CBA, CFA and China Student Sports Federation and more.

CNFA & CNBA have gained five projects which are the Major Project from General Administration of Sports of China, the Horizontal Research from CBA, the Key Project from Shandong Administration of Sports, the Projects from Department of Education of Shandong Province and published 12 articles as well as 7 academic books , such asStudy on Basketball Education and Talent Fostering, Theory and Practice on Football Performance Analysis, Football Englishetc. and applied one patent. Moreover, one University Elite Youth Innovative Team of Shandong Province was approved.

Aiming to build Asia’s leading academies with international influence, CNFA & CNBA have insisted to push forward demand-oriented model on talent fostering and build high-level talent fostering bases and reserve personnel youth training bases to revitalize Chinese football & basketball.
